Qigong Exercises and Meditatation
The Qigong class is divided into three sessions: Qigong Theory, Active Qigong, and Stillness Qigong.
Qigong Theory
In this session, we’ll explore the foundational principles behind Qigong, including the concepts of Qi (vital energy), Yin and Yang balance, and the body’s meridian pathways. Understanding these principles deepens the practice, helping participants connect more fully with the movement and meditation exercises. This theoretical foundation serves as a guide to cultivating Qi flow, enhancing both physical and mental well-being.
Active Qigong
Active Qigong involves gentle movements, postures, breathing techniques, and mindful intention, allowing Qi to flow naturally throughout the body. This practice includes:
- Ba Duan Jin: Originating in the 12th century, Ba Duan Jin, or "Eight Pieces of Silk," consists of eight smooth movements targeting specific body areas and meridians to enhance energy, flexibility, strength, and mental calmness.
- Zhineng Qigong: Developed by Professor Pang Ming in the 1980s, Zhineng Qigong combines Qi cultivation with movement routines and standing meditation. It’s designed for modern needs, often offering health benefits even after the first level of practice.
- OpenSky Qigong: Rooted in ancient Chinese medicine principles, OpenSky Qigong is adapted for modern life. Its structured levels range from Level 1 to 3, with an additional facilitator level for those who wish to guide others.
Stillness Qigong
Stillness Qigong focuses on meditation and breathing exercises to promote Qi flow, relax the body and mind, and stimulate natural self-healing processes. This session helps restore balance, normalize bodily functions, and support overall well-being.
